One Question [Mar. 28th, 2010|01:59 pm]

RPF GEN. REAL PERSON GENFIC, INTERNET, DOES YOU HAVE IT? 'COZ I WANTS IT.

I've been searching for comms. all day and ninety-eight percent of them are about sex. I don't freaking CARE who's boinking who or who could potentially be boinking who; never have, never will. Isn't there a page, half-a-page somewhere with a fic about a celeb walking his/her dog* and contemplating the meaning of life? Or something else NOT having to do with sex? Jeez!

*not-so-random idea from one Fandom_Secret I vaguely remember

*sigh* Maybe the celeb-slashers aren't alone, but I feel incredibly alone. ._.;

In scrolling down Fandom_Secrets today, I spied this. Which pissed me off.

And then this comment (despite being in the opinion minority) pissed me off even more.

...

Starting tomorrow at 9AM, I'm a Price Chopper cashier. It might not be that $35,000/yr. editorial position I've always wanted, but it'll pay a buck and a quarter more than the state-mandated minimum wage (i.e. $7.25) which on a regular basis will do wonders for my bleak-looking bank account. Plus, it'll boost my social skills and on-the-fly basic number-crunching skills (or lack thereof) — and get my parents off my back, to a degree.

Need Language Help! [Jul. 15th, 2009|10:56 pm]

[mood |stressedstressed]

EDIT: Well, I tried asking for help on linguaphiles, but essentially got a pat on the head and told "run along, now". Apparently they'd rather not waste their time and skills on "*scoff* fanfiction".

Sooo...I still need help. -.-;;

I need help translating a bunch of English dialogue into Japanese as accurately as possible as soon as possible for my fanfiction. I don't really know much, so I'm gonna need lots of hand holding. That said, I'm familiar with levels of politeness, and things like that. All of the dialogue is said by cartoon characters, so there can be some leeway with things.

Anyone? Anyone? Please? Pretty Please? ;-;

My 2¢ on MJJ [Jun. 27th, 2009|01:52 pm]

[music |Man in the Mirror ~ Michael Jackson]

I remember being a bit obsessed with the guy not too long ago, actually. Then...I dunno, it just kinda fazed out.

Anyway, I was reading something a friend of mine wrote in her devART journal today, was going to comment with my opinions, but didn't want to seem too self-absorbed, so I thought I'd put them here, instead.
I think that the MJ fans — especially the fanatics — should look at the silver lining to this dark cloud: one, the man's at peace now, he's in a better place and he's no longer suffering from anything, physical or emotional; and two, especially right now, people are remembering him for all of the amazing things he did, for all of the good he did for the world, and letting go of any other opinions they have toward any other things he did — or the things they think he did — non-musically.
*goes back to listening to more of his music*

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4:
My alarm rang on, and no one came, and I found myself reaching out with my bloodied left hand to turn the next page, knowing that I had to leave but stuck there as if caught in a moment of determinism. ~ Vellum: The Book of All Hours, Hal Duncan (Think The Satanic Verses but with the most contemporary chunks set in a semi-futuristic dystopia.)

So...Yeah [Feb. 7th, 2009|07:35 am]

[mood |awakeawake]

Nothing really bad is happening or has ever happened in my life. I mean, not like genuine crisis-level. Sure my harddrive crashed last year and right now I need a job and an apartment two weeks ago — but while my parents are a pain in the ass, they're still giving me a roof and a bed and food, so...I could complain, but I really shouldn't. I feel like I rarely post to this darn thing only because so many times, I feel like I really don't have anything worth posting. Most of my earlier entries and the one about needing a real shelter was just empty minor dramatics, randomness, and frustration — which I guess LJ's known for, but...yeah.

So...um...today, hopefully, the crew will be back on the lake to finish hauling out this flatbed truck that went through the ice over two weeks ago. I'm going to be polishing and publishing an article on that for a local newsletter called Mailboat. Also, while the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is on a 'freelance freeze', ex post facto, I've got a couple column articles to write on some noteworthy citizens of the Tri-Lakes area.
